Travelled over from Leeds to try Poplar Grove Fisheries and it was well worth it. I had the special haddock, which you get to choose cod or haddock cooked perfectly. The chips were spot on, mushy peas lovely, and curry sauce fantastic. Staff were really friendly, place was busy as you’d expect, but a great experience all round.

I'll start with the bad................... Now to the good Prices for the portion size is unbelievable you can feed a workman and his cats easily Chips were golden brown and the white flakey fish cooked to perfection. Definitely heading back here again

I don't normally write reviews unless I have something to complain about but this place deserves a 5 star review. My daughter and I was on the way to Pontefract park and I decided to try Poplars for some chips to keep us going until dinner time. Whilst waiting for the chips to cook I had a good look around and was impressed with how clean the place was. What was equally impressive was the information provided on the wall showing where/who the fish and potatoes are from which I thought was a nice touch. Now on to the food......what can I say. Absolutely banging! The only thing I'm dissapointed about is that my daughter and I shared a kids fish strip meal. If I had known the food was going to taste sooooo good, I definitely would have gone for a standard fish and chips meal instead of cooking dinner later. Oh....and not forgetting the ladies behind the counter who were an absolute delight. We will definitely be bypassing all the other F&C shops on the way from Castleford to see you soon!
